The rumors are true. The Graco My Ride 65 will RF to 40 pounds and FF to 65 pounds. It is now a real seat. I have seen real life pictures of it. The seat shell measures about the same, or slightly shorter than the Marathon. However, the pictures with a child in it look like he has slightly more growing room in the My Ride than in the Marathon. The top harness slots are slightly below 17 inches. The Marathon is supposed to have 16 inch top slots, but often measure at 17.
What does this mean? Can my child RF until she's 6?! Probobly not. But those 34 pound 1 or 2 year olds can RF longer now :) It is said to be in stores the first week in June. And it's said to be $150-175. Great price for what sounds like a great seat. Can you guess where I will be everyday in June until it arrives? Or until the nice manager (Nick.... do you read my blog...?) gives me an exact arrival date. Babies R Us. I WANT THIS SEAT.
This is history in the making. The very first American carseat that can RF to 40 pounds. Very exciting :)
I was excited, but my son was too big to rf in the MA by 33lbs easily (at 2 1/2 years). No way he would have, nor would my current son even have a shot at getting above 35 in that seat. But, he can make it to 35 I think in the radian because of the tall shell.
ReplyDeleteNow if only the radian or true fit would get in gear and get their seats certified to 40lbs rfing. They might actually last most kids that long.
I don't think it will get Sofi to 40 pounds either. But she may be 6 before she gets that heavy :) I do think it's great for kids like Joel (mentioned in an earlier blog entry).
ReplyDeleteI don't see pictures?
ReplyDeleteJust in time -- my daughter will be 1 at the end of July, and probably will be hitting the limit of her infant seat, so I can move my 2.5 year old to this to be RF for longer instead of just getting a combination seat, and move her to his. After she uses it, it will expire though (a couple years)....I wonder if I'll get the Nautilus to replace it or another one of these. I guess I'll have to see how easy this is to use...please post a review when you have one!
ReplyDeleteI was given permission to post pics...but then the person said the pics were released too soon and I had to take them down. So if permission is given before the seat is released, I will gladly repost them. And Once I get the seat, I will certainly post a review :)

ReplyDeletei wish i had known this a few weeks ago. my 3 year 4 month old just reached 35 lbs. in his Britax Boulevard and we switched him facing forward. Now that he has discovered the DVD player, I think i will have a hard time facing him rear facing again. Great seat though!
ReplyDeleteRachel, if you kept him rear facing to 3 years 4 months, you did great!
ReplyDeleteI'm adding pictures right now of a child 3 years 8 months and 34 pounds.
after thinking long and hard about this, i have decided to buy this seat. i think it will get my son rear facing until 4.
ReplyDeleteWonderful. But, please read my newest blog (6/25) and watch for a fraying harness adjuster strap.
ReplyDeletei did see that on car-seat.org and will be watching for it. I only intend to use this seat for the 35-40 lb. range, as I'm not thrilled with GRACO products in the first place...but this is the only seat, for now, that will keep him rear facing. :)
ReplyDeletethanks for the warning though! :)
